Ice cream social on Wednesday!

This week during faculty and department meeting times, teachers will continue to work on differentiation strategies to ensure the support and success of each student.  Everyone will be sharing what they’ve done differently since our two professional development sessions with district staff; we’ll be examining actual student work samples to find common threads or common misconceptions and plan for remediation.  We’ll do this again in two and a half weeks, which will help to keep us focused on using classroom data appropriately.

Teachers have also been working on our WASC accreditation report for our visit next spring.  They have been divided into five FOCUS groups and will be tasked with answering to what extent has Waimea HS teachers, staff, and administration achieved the specific criteria for each section.  Soon, we will be asking students, parents, and community members to also join our FOCUS groups – please volunteer your time if/when you are called.

Still got a lot of KIF sports going on…. Come out and support your fave team/athlete this week!

1.        Ice cream social during lunch – students with 3.0 GPA or higher can pick up their ice cream snack by the side office door. 

2.        Meetings this week – faculty on Tuesday, department on Thursday.  Please bring student work samples from one class period to Tuesday’s meeting; you will be working through the template that Caroline gave us last month.  Be prepared to talk/share about how you differentiated for your students; what strategy(ies) did you use?

3.        KCC advisory visit – ABADILLA.  Please keep your students in on Thursday.
