This week during faculty and department meeting times, teachers will
continue to work on differentiation strategies to ensure the support and
success of each student. Everyone will
be sharing what they’ve done differently since our two professional development
sessions with district staff; we’ll be examining actual student work samples to
find common threads or common misconceptions and plan for remediation. We’ll do this again in two and a half weeks,
which will help to keep us focused on using classroom data appropriately.
Teachers have also been working on our WASC accreditation report for our
visit next spring. They have been
divided into five FOCUS groups and will be tasked with answering to what extent
has Waimea HS teachers, staff, and administration achieved the specific
criteria for each section. Soon, we will
be asking students, parents, and community members to also join our FOCUS
groups – please volunteer your time if/when you are called.
