Schools of The Future Conference, Bernhardt Data Training, and 'Discover Waimea' evening at Kalaheo....

Hello everyone!

Waimea HS teachers and administrators will be learning more about what it takes to become a Future Ready School as we are sending two teams to Oahu for training this week.  One group will be at the Schools of the Future Conference at the Convention Center where they will have an opportunity to network with other educators from all over the state and listen to nationally known speakers talk about:

·         Deeper Learning & Common Core
·         Multimedia, Gaming & Simulations
·         Mobile Learning & 1:1 Strategies
·         Project-Based / Design-Based Learning

Our second group of teachers and administrators will be at the Victoria Bernhardt Data Analysis training at Pearl Country Club this week Tuesday - Thursday.  They will learn more about how to use the four different types of school data – demographic, perception, student achievement, and programs/processes – to drive continuous school improvement.  This will be the second group of WHS staff attending the Bernhardt training; it will allow us to build capacity at the school level and learn how to utilize data better in our classes and as an entire system.  It will also help us to prepare for a WASC accreditation visit in Spring 2017.

Please encourage families of 8th graders at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School and St. Theresa School to come and check out our Discover Waimea evening at Kalaheo School’s cafeteria this Thursday starting at 6 pm.  We will have presentations by students and staff from each of our Career Tech Education Pathways and our JROTC programs, refreshments, and lucky number drawings.  It will be a fun night and a great opportunity to learn more about our school!

Have a good week everyone.

Mrs. Anguay  J
