VidRoc launch, Performance Task at the lo'i, and Differentiation training.....

Teachers will have their 3rd session with district staff on differentiation or how to make sure that every student in each class has the content delivered to them so they understand it.  Teachers have learned that there’s different ways to do this – by varying the amount of time given, by altering the classroom environment, to chunking the amount of work and when it’s due.  This is part of our on-going professional development to implement effective classroom instructional strategies to ensure every student is successful.

We have two groups of students who will be participating in field trips to Waimea Valley lo’I patches this week Tuesday and Friday.  They’re going to be asked to do a performance task that will integrate science, reading, writing, and math concepts; this project is being sponsored by Academy 21.

Finally on Friday our VidRoc math students will be launching their rocket in Kekaha, starting approximately at 8:30 am.  We’re hoping to stream it live along with student commentary from VidRoc participants.  Garden Island newspaper will be sending a reporter to school this Wednesday to interview students; be sure to check the paper later this week for the story.

Have a great week everyone!
