Last week Friday our math teachers and our special education teachers had opportunities to work with our Waimea Canyon MS partners, looking for opportunities to align our programs and curriculum/instruction better to ensure that all of our students are successful. The math teachers worked with consultant Wes Yuu to shore up the Algebra 1 essential skills while our special education departments shared information about the Hookipa and Department of Vocational Rehabilitation programs.
Teachers are also working hard on our Spring 2017 WASC report while
simultaneously preparing our Academic Plan for next year. This week, the second Focus group
presentation takes place at Tuesday’s extended faculty meeting; teachers will have
a chance to review and add to the work of their peers. Department heads will meet on Thursday and
will work with Ms. Asahi to be sure we’re staying on track for achieving this
year’s benchmarks.
Softball and baseball teams are hosting their tournaments this week
beginning Thursday; come out and watch some great games. Also, good luck to the boys’ soccer team as
they leave for states this week!

Kalaheo HS. I won’t be able to check
