The next few weeks are super busy with athletes traveling off island for preseason and state tournaments for wrestling and soccer, hosting our own tournaments for baseball and softball, and participating in the Waimea Town Celebration going on til next weekend. Please remind your student to continue to keep his or her grades up during this hectic time of fun and activities as we wind down towards the end of quarter 3.
I’m repeating this message from last week’s blog as it’s very important for all to know:
- · We’re are finalizing teachers’ and students’ schedules for next year and will be looking very closely at assessment data, student grades, and teacher recommendations to determine which students will be placed in reading/writing or math workshop courses. These classes will provide intensive academic support to help students to ‘catch up’ with some core skills and to be more successful in school. We are also looking at running summer credit recovery classes again, beginning immediately after the regular school year ends where students will have an opportunity to make up a failed class via e2020 online. Tuition will be $170 to cover the cost of teachers and the additional e2020 licenses we have to purchase for summer credit recovery. Students will have class for 5 weeks and will be tutored by WHS teachers hired for the summer. Counselors will be contacting identified students and parents soon re: workshop classes and/or summer credit recovery program. If you have any questions or would like to know if your son or daughter could be placed in one of these classes, please contact counselors Mr. Nitta and Mrs. Guillet at 338-6800.
Have a great week everyone!
