Hello everyone and welcome to week
2 of the spring semester.
VP Asahi and I met with counselors last
week to go over students who have failed multiple courses and are in danger of
failing the year or who may not graduate in May. We will be calling in students and parents to
have individual meetings over the next few weeks to encourage a renewed sense
of urgency in completing work and taking school seriously. For some students and families, we may have
to begin conversations about alternative ways to continue their education. This is a grave concern of mine as we do not
offer credit recovery courses anymore during the school day; students who fail
a course need to make up the credit on their own time through e2020. If your son or daughter did not pass all of
his or her classes in first semester, be sure to remind him/her of this reality
and speak to their counselor too in case a schedule change needs to be
made. Most of all, please encourage your
student to not give up and persist in giving his/her best effort every day, in
every class, with every teacher.
Also, please take a few minutes to
read the handout from Superintendent Matayoshi that was sent home with each
student on Friday. It contains some very
important information about the upcoming new SBAC test juniors will be taking
in April.
Finally, please be sure to scroll
through the calendar in the right hand column of my blog…. You will find
upcoming school events that you can add to your personal or family calendar.
Have a great week everyone; here’s
your announcements.
